Strong electron correlation effects in complex d- and f-based magnetic materials for technological applications

Strongly correlated metals, alloys, oxides, their surfaces and interfaces continue to be very active research themes in condensed matter physics. These fields continue branching into increasingly wider areas of condensed matter, which involve spintronics, spin-orbit related effects, topological matter, magnetoelectric coupling, magnetic anisotropy, or multiferroicity.

It is widely recognized that first-principles calculations of strongly correlated materials are important for understanding their physical and chemical properties. The three-day workshop brought together theoreticians and experimentalists who discussed the correlated band methods based on a combination of the density functional theory and the dynamical mean-field theory.
